SpringFilm: The Artist (2011) In-Person
Join the Springfield Public Library for a free showing of the Academy Award Winner The Artist, at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 4th at the Wildish Community Theater in downtown Springfield.
In 1927, George Valentin, the silver screen’s pre-eminent leading man, bumps into a young women named Peppy Miller, and their brief interaction causes a stir amongst the press, inadvertently propelling Peppy to stardom. But as the Silent era of films comes to a close, George finds his Star power fading as well, and he must learn to navigate the strange new world of the Talkies. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards and winning 5, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, The Artist is an entertaining hidden gem worth revisiting.
SpringFilm continues at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, with a free showing of the cult classic film Run Lola Run.
SpringFilm is made possible by a partnership between the Springfield Public Library, the Springfield Public Library Foundation, Willamalane Parks and Recreation District, and the Wildish Community Theater, and is generously sponsored by Plank Town Brewing Company.
