ILLUMINATION Opening Celebration In-Person
Join the Springfield History Museum for our newest chapter of ILLUMINATION that centers the Black and African American experience in Springfield and rural east Lane County. The exhibit features video interviews and photographs of eight individuals captured by our story collection team: ‘Michael Kay’ Klindt, Marcus Holloway, and Irene Rasheed. Our opening celebration is produced by Day in the Life Entertainment featuring live performances by local Black artists, booths with local Black businesses and light refreshments from a local Black author and chef. Bring your friends and family to celebrate Black history, joy and success in our community. This event is free and open to all!
Also join us for our Community After Party with DJ Smuve at OG Studio down the street at 14th and Main Street, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. We'll have music, dancing, food and fun! Join us to celebrate everyone who helped bring to life the Springfield History Museum’s latest chapter of ILLUMINATION that centers the Black and African American experience in Springfield and rural east Lane County. This event is free and open to everyone, presented by Springfield History Museum and Day in the Life Entertainment.
