FRYBREAD TACO FUNDRAISER - Support ILLUMINATION with Fresh Food & Live Music!

FRYBREAD TACO FUNDRAISER - Support ILLUMINATION with Fresh Food & Live Music!

Help send our ILLUMINATION Team to the 2025 International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries & Museums in Cherokee, North Carolina to share our community with the world!

Join us at the Springfield History Museum at 6th & Main St. during the 2nd Friday Art Walk on Friday, June 13th. Thanks to Delicias Tiki Tiki food truck (with support from Comunidad y Herencia Cultural), our team will be able to prepare and sell frybread tacos, agua fresca and bolis - all proceeds from sales will go to support ILLUMINATION Team scholarships for the international conference. We'll also have live music entertainment with Kunu Bearchum and Michael Leslie.

The 2024-2025 ILLUMINATION team includes Kunu Bearchum (Northern Cheyenne, Ho-Chunk), Princess Bass-Mason (Klamath, Western Shoshone), Megan England (Siletz), and Mindy Linder, Springfield History Museum. They will present on ILLUMINATION, the ongoing community-led history project that centers the stories and voices of those currently underrepresented in our museum collections, including new oral histories. They will highlight this year's chapter - centering the American Indian and Alaska Native history and experience of the land we now call Springfield and rural east Lane County.

At this conference, the story team will:

  • Present a scalable project model from our local history museum to an international audience.
  • Study successful projects that can inform library and museum programs and services in Springfield.
  • Bring back professional training in topics like community outreach, oral history documentation, building community partnerships, and capacity building.
  • Share their experiences from the conference and incorporate the footage into a short fill that will be a companion to the other 2024-2025 ILLUMINATION materials.

We need YOUR support to send the team to Cherokee, North Carolina to represent our community! The Springfield History Museum is collaborating with our Springfield Public Library Foundation to welcome donations to help fund scholarships to support the team.
