SPRINGFILM: The Way

SPRINGFILM: The Way In-Person

The pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) in the Pyrenees and a personal transformation form the backdrop of SPRINGfilm’s June film ‘The Way’.  Starring Martin Sheen and written and directed by his son, Emilio Estevez, ‘The Way’ will be presented for free at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2022 in the Wildish Community Theater.  Following the death of his son, Thomas Avery (Sheen) decides to walk the Camino de Santiago, and along the way is joined by other pilgrims, all with their own reasons to hike the trail. The film was shot on location in just 40 days and relied on available light including candle and firelight for night scenes.  Masks are not required to attend this showing but are welcome.

Starring Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez and Deborah Kara Unger, directed by Emilio Estevez; 123 minutes; Rated PG-13 (2010).

SPRINGfilm continues at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 with a free showing of “Pan’s Labyrinth” starring Ivana Baquero and written and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

SPRINGfilm is made possible by a partnership between the Springfield Public Library, the Springfield Public Library Foundation, Willamalane Parks and Recreation District and the Wildish Community Theater and is generously sponsored by Plank Town Brewing Company.
