Springfield Public Library’s film series SPRINGfilm presents a critically acclaimed hidden gem.

Come and see a riveting Academy Award winning crime drama set at the backdrop of the 1960s Civil Rights Era. Join Springfilm and the Wildish Theater at 6:30PM Wednesday June 21st for a free film and discussion. Set during the age of J. Edgar Hoover’s tenure over the FBI, a young Thief is tapped by the Bureau to infiltrate the Black Panthers and investigate their Charismatic Leader Fred Hampton. The film was nominated for 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture, and Won Daniel Kaluuya, of Get Out Fame, his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons and Martin Sheen, directed by Shaka King; 126mins; (2021).

SPRINGfilm continues at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with a free showing of the classic Sci Fi Film “Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan”.

SPRINGfilm is made possible by a partnership between the Springfield Public Library, the Springfield Public Library Foundation, Willamalane Parks and Recreation District and the Wildish Community Theater and is generously sponsored by Plank Town Brewing Company.
